Meet the Founder

Hi my name is Tia Payne and I will be going into my senior year at Santiago High School. My favorite subject in school is history, and I hope to become a medical humanitarian and human rights journalist when I am older. I am a member of the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) which is a national organization dedicated to securing and safeguarding the civil rights of Asian and Pacific Islander Americans as well as other minority groups facing injustice in our country. By creating the Diverse Perspectives Book Club, I wanted to share my love of books while simultaneously sparking meaningful conversation and inspiring community members to take action to support those who experience oppression and discrimination.
